I started directing during while pursuing my BA at Yale University. Upon graduatine in 2012, I went on to work as the resident director at the Trinidad Theatre Workshop, the Caribbean's longest-running theatre company. To date, I have directed eight professional and six amateur productions, and have directed and developed six staged readings. I love developing new scripts with playwrights as well as bringing new takes to classics. Click here to see examples of my work.
Film Production Coordination
I have worked as a script consultant for the past decade, providing feedback on film and theatre scripts in early, middle and late stages of development. I provide concise, specific, and detailed feedback for writers as well as for producers/directors working with new work. I am also a trained dramaturg specializing in bringing relevance to classic texts and helping new scripts come to life. I have worked with playwrights from concept to production, as well as work short contract to read and provide immediate feedback.
Teaching acting for me began with my work as a director, where I work with each individual actor to bring out their best performance. I was the School for the Arts Director at the Trinidad Theatre Workshop for three years, where I trained teachers, oversaw the development of course curriculum, and taught, over the years, New Actor's Workshop, for adults, Advanced Acting, Teacher's Workshop, and Children's Summer Camps. I have also developed plays for children and teenagers and put on productions starring young people for both child and adult audiences. Most recently, I ran a Shakespeare Summer Session at the MeltingPot Theatre in Kansas City Missouri. I love working with both children and adults, from people with no training at all, to those looking to develop the skills they already have. I strongly believe that everyone can act, and strive to bring out the confidence and empathy in my students to empower them on stage.
